Study in Canada: Manulife Life Lessons Scholarship Program for Post-Secondary Students in 2022

Manulife has launched Canada’s first Life Lessons Scholarship Program for students who have lost a parent or guardian and have little or no life insurance.

The Scholarship Program assists youth in overcoming the financial load of paying for post-secondary education during a difficult period and recognizes their tenacity in the face of adversity.

The Manulife Life Lessons Scholarship Program is dedicated to student success and provides financial assistance to students, making the decision to enroll in and complete a college, university, or trade school program a bit easier.

Scholarship Facts

Individuals, groups, and institutions rely on them for financial advice, insurance, and wealth and asset management solutions.

Scholarship Requirements

Students who are presently enrolled in or have been admitted to a college, university, or trade school in Canada and who meet the following criteria:

  • are a permanent resident of Canada;
  • are between the ages of 17 and 24 at the time of application; and

have lost a parent or legal guardian due to a lack of life insurance coverage.

Scholarship Reward and Duration

Successful applicants will each receive a $10,000 scholarship from Manulife each year.

Method of Application

You must submit a 500-word essay OR a 3-minute video on how the death of your parent or guardian has impacted your life financially and emotionally, in addition to some basic information.

It’s important to reflect on how the death of a parent or guardian has affected your post-secondary education plans, your family’s financial condition, and how you’ve been working hard to stay on schedule to complete your post-secondary degree throughout this period. Please note that essays with more than 500 words or videos with a duration of more than three minutes will be immediately dismissed.
